Pond and Barnes, Boston, MA, beautiful double steeple shelf clock with double fusee works. 2 reverse painted glass tablets, beautiful label, “Patent Spring Eight Day Brass Clocks, Pond & Barnes, Nos. 71 &73 Hanover Street, Boston”, with pendulumn and key. Measures approx. 23″ tall x 12 1/2″ wide x 4″ deep.

Pond & Barnes Shelf Clock w/Double Columns: brass, weight driven movement with bell strike. The 7″ wood dial is maker marked, including Boston, but the first name is worn and shows letters nd. The case is mahogany and veneer and has 2 columns on both sides and original glass panes. The case is very clean. A key and original weights are with it.

Boardman & Wells Double Fusee Steeple Clock. Painted metal dial has a raised 5 in. chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and black hands, has a brass double fusee movement with tombstone cutouts in the plates, countwheel strike mechanism with coiled gong and brass pendulum bob. Fusee cone for the strike mechanism is replaced, movement is signed C. Boardman, Bristol, Conn, U.S.A. Rosewood steeple case has conical turned finials and reverse painted tablet with filigree and birds, green paper label in the back of the case signed G. Boardman and by J. A. Wells; original finish, has some minor veneer losses and chipping to the dial around the edges. 20 in. high x 10 in. wide x 4.5 in. deep.

A mahogany veneer double steeple shelf clock, with a paper label indicating the manufacturer, “Elisha Manross” and having two stenciled and hand painted reverse painted panels. The mechanisms includes a double fusee mechanism something the early American clock makers tried (with limited success) by manufacturing the fusee devices from wood.
