Boston, Mass., subsidiary dials for hours at the bottom, seconds above and minute track around the perimeter, four-legged gravity escapement single train movement stamped E. Howard & Co. Note: With a long history in Waltham, this clock is likely one used in the Howard factory from new until early in the 20th century. Inside the great wheel under the maintaining power disc is the following inscriptions by E. Howard Company escapement finisher Mr. L. P. Emerson: L.P.E. 1874 Cleaned 1884 L.P.E. Put up in Supt. Office 1892 L.P.E. Cleaned 1900 – new wire 1902.

Condition

Condition: The original pendulum accompanies the lot , presently in a stage of restoring the nickel finish, This movement is quite possibly experimental in nature with the jeweled lifting arms and single weight. Although the plates are drilled for a two train movement, there is no evidence it was ever used in this manner. Spare holes on the front plate indicate provision for break circuit attachments, probably never installed. Inscriptions inside the great wheel suggest a Howard factory connection.
