A nice desk clock, about 5″ in height, made by the Chelsea Clock Company, with a silver dialed timepiece in the form of a ships wheel mounted on a gimbaled frame and base. The antiqued finished brass case is engraved “H. S. Prentice 1948”.
Unless otherwise stated the condition of the mechanisms of these clocks is good, but that does not mean they run or do not need repairs. There is no guarantee of either the mechanical performance of clocks nor the completeness and originality of their parts and components. In most cases we have not removed the dials from these clocks, and have not checked inside for manufacturers or makers names for attribution.
Chelsea Ships Helm Desk Clock. Blued spade hands, 3 in. silvered dial with black incised hour numbers, signed “Chelsea Clock Co., Boston U.S.A.”. Quality brass time only movement with lever escapement, signed Chelsea Clock Co., Boston U.S.A. and numbered 153370; in running condition, balance has good brisk motion. Quality forged brass ship’s wheel case with matching numbers, silvered finish and an ebonized wood back & platform. In good original condition, missing door glass. 9.75 in. high x 7 in. wide x 3.5 in. deep.

Chelsea Ships Wheel Clock, time and strike ships bell movement and a 3 1/2″ metal dial. Engraved on bezel “May 28, 1944 W.A.S. Jan. 23 1946, and mounted on an inlaid wood custom made back and base. Clock is running at this time.
(The metal finish is worn and the wood is dented under the clock front.)
