Wrought Iron Double Dial Mantle Clock. Fancy gothic style wrought iron case with pierced, scrolling and twisting designs, mounted rosettes and spherical bronze balls, spiral wrapped finial and crest arch, has a beautiful black original finish with some brown highlights on the bronze pieces. 5.5 in. inset porcelain dial signed ÂJ.W. Benson, Bond St., London with black Roman hour numerals, open moon hands, exposed Brocot escapement with jeweled pallets, brass door bezel with beveled crystal; round French brass spring driven movement signed with A.B. and 5 point star trademark for Achille Brocot, has an half hour strike on a coiled gong. Lower brass perpetual calendar mechanism signed with Achille Brocot trademark, has a 4 in. porcelain dial with inset moon phase, Mean Time at Noon indicator and sub dial for days, months & 31 dates. Case is in excellent condition with no breaks or repairs, missing pendulum, clock runs, strikes, the calendar is in good working condition with a good dial, time dial has hairlines in the outer ring and is missing the brass collars around the arbor holes. 25.5 in. high x 12 in. wide x 6 in. deep.
Early 16th Century Wrought Iron Tower Clock. Clock has a wrought iron bird cage frame with keyed through tenon construction, fancy scrolled corbels and spire points at the peak of the corner posts; weight driven movement has a verge escapement with foliot balance at the top with crown wheel, the 3 train movement has an quarter hour strike with governor fly wheel assembly on the front and back and hour count wheel strike. Movement does not have hands, weights or pulleys and is missing 2 tenon wedges. Movement measures 32 in. high x 27 in. wide x 32 in. deep. On a rough cut 4×4 wood stand with pegged construction measuring 25 in. high x 27 in. wide x 25 in. deep.
