William Stokes Oak Long Case Clock. Brass dial has a 9 in. silvered chapter ring with black incised Roman hour numerals, fancy black hands, gilt brass filigree corner spandrels, engraved center with doves, beveled aperture cutout exposing the calendar disc and dial signed Wm. Stokes, Stourbridge; brass weight driven movement has recoil escapement with fancy turned posts, hour rack & snail strike mechanism with drop hammer strike on an iron bell at the top of the movement, iron weights, brass pulleys and brass covered pendulum bob swinging from a long steel rod. In an oak case with overhanging cornice top, turned columns on the bonnet and quartersawn grain on the 1 pc. door panel; case is restored and refinished, door is bowed and hinges are reset, backboard of the base is replaced and the kickboard trim around the base is replaced. Clock is in running condition. 78.5 in. high x 21 in. wide x 12 in. deep.
