Welch No. 1 Drop Octagon Calendar Clock. 12 in. painted metal dial with open center, fancy pierced black minute and hour hands and red sweep calendar indicator; has black Roman hour numerals and Arabic 31 day outer calendar. 8 day, brass double spring movement with half hour strike, brass covered pendulum bob. Rosewood case has an octagonal top with a short drop, pendulum exposed through the door glass, in original finish and good overall condition with some minor bubbling to the veneer. 24 in. high x 17 in. wide x 5 in. deep.

Description
A mid 19th century Welch Spring and Co., Gale Astronomical Drop Calendar No.1. 8-day spring driven time and strike movement with subsidiary dials for time, day, Moon phase and a perpetual calendar. Rosewood case with a molded upper door, original painted dial with sunrise and sunset numbers, a single lower door with original reverse painted glass, and a molded base. Original Black & Gold label and Gale instruction label bottom inside both 90%+ intact. Cleaned and waxed original finish with minor wear, a few small flakes on painted dial and some alligatoring on lower door paint. 30 1/2″ high. ESTIMATE $6,000-8,000.
