Weight driven antique Presentation banjo clock with painted dial with Roman numerals, brass bezel and side brackets, reverse painted glass throat and lower tablets with stunning chariot scene and floral matching throat design topped by lion’s head, gold eagle finial, gold gilt rope border on throat and lower glass, some loss on glass due to age, brass pendulum. Beautiful antique banjo clock that represents the wonderful craftsmenship of these timepiece makers during the early 1800s.

Waltham Mahogany Presentation Banjo Clock. 7 in. painted metal dial with black Arabic numbers, original blued hands, signed Waltham; typical brass weight driven movement is signed Waltham Watch Co. USA., brass covered pendulum bob with oak stick, brass bezel with rounded door glass, black painted weight baffle and lead weight. Mahogany case has a typical banjo form with fluted tapering bracket, teardrop acorn finial, turned presentation spheres, brass eagle finial, brass bezel and pierced brass side arms; reverse painted throat glass with George Washington, reverse painted Mt. Vernon lower door glass. Good running condition, case is original finish and good condition, glasses are original and in very good condition with no losses or inpainting. 42 in. high.

In a mahogany presentation banjo Willard style case having pierced brass side arms, bezel, eagle finial and spherical mounts around the bracket; original reverse painted throat glass and tablet with English castle scene, in good condition with some minor flaking. 21 in. high.

Weight driven antique Presentation Banjo clock, c. 1820’s, mahogany case with brass bezel and Roman numeral painted dial, gold gilted base, gold eagle, brass side brackets, beautiful reverse painted glass lower tablet and throat. Beautiful reverse painted glass with sailing ships and American seal apeture, bordered by ornate gold fancy edging, gold leaves from urn and matching border adorn the throat, beautiful brass pendulum. This timepiece is a beautiful example of the Presentation Banjo Clocks of the 1820s. Note: tip of eagles wing broken.
