Walter Durfee 9 Tube Mahogany Grandfather Clock. Large brass dial has a silvered 12 in. chapter ring with applied gilt brass Arabic hour numbers, fancy scrolling gilt engraved center and spandrels, silvered sub seconds dial, sub dials for Chime-Silent & Westminster-Whitington, nautical moon phase dial and signed by the retailer Bailey Banks & Biddle; quality brass weight driven movement has Graham deadbeat escapement, quarter hour strike with 9 tubes, 3 quality brass weights & pulleys and 1 jar mercurial pendulum, signed Walter H. Durfee, Providence, RI on the top of the back plate, dial board, back of the moon phase disk and chimes. Mahogany case has a broken arched crest with applied brass rosettes and spun brass finials, spiral turned columns with brass capitols on the bonnet, body and base with beveled door glass with carved arched top and stands on claw feet. 103 in. high x 23 in. wide x 15 in. deep.
