Gilt bronze of a figural standing winged cupid beside a whetstone grinding wheel, he smiles as he sharpens the arrow of love; the clock is contained in the body below with French Empire period designed tables on either side, one with a jug and cup, the other with a basket of flowers, the scene in the arched panel of the base depicts a dog seated on a rock and watching cupid string his bow. 4 in. porcelain dial has black hour numerals and blued open moon hands; brass spring driven 8 day movement has a silk thread suspension and half hour strike on a bell. In very good condition, beautiful finish, no breaks or repairs, tip of the arrow is missing. 18 in. high x 12.5 in. wide x 5 in. deep.

Has a 3 in. silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals and open moon hands; typical round French brass silk thread movement signed Villemsens a Paris, count wheel strike mechanism strikes on a bell. Clock is in overall good condition, both movements are in running condition; the canteen held by the figure appears to be replaced, missing pendulum. 17 in. high x 10 in. wide x 4.5 in. deep
