A fine mahogany and inlay Federal tall case clock with an eight day bell strike clockworks. Probably New York or New Jersey, ca 1790-1810. Height is 91″.

Indiana / Kentucky Federal Tall Case Clock
early 19th century, cherry and mahogany veneers, poplar secondary, dovetailed hood with tripod arched pediment, four fully turned columns on each corner, the metal face with painted moon dial, date/hour/second dials, shells to each corner, metal works, the case featuring a single raised panel waist door with bold flamed veneers, chamfered corners with lamb's tongue, the bold base with raised panel again featuring flame veneers and raised on turned ball feet; with pendulum and two weights.

arched painted dial inscribed "Thomas Voight Philada.", Pennsylvania, 1800-1820, with painted moon dial depicting an American sailing vessel, seconds sweep, brass eight day movement, original saddle board, dial set in very finely figured waisted mahogany case with broken arch pediment with leaf carved urn finials and leafy rosettes, reeded and leaf carved columns and colonettes, exceptionally well carved, 96 x 21 x 11 in.
Note: A noted and highly skilled clockmaker, Thomas Voight was patronized by Thomas Jefferson, who commissioned from him an astronomical tall case clock in 1812 that is now at Monticello.

Federal mahogany tall case clock with a 12 in. painted metal dial, black Arabic hour numerals, 5 minute numbers, sub seconds dial, aperture cutout below exposing the calendar disc, painted and gilt enameled corner spandrels with moon phase dial having landscape and seascape scenes. The brass eight-day, weight-driven movement has an anchor escapement, hour strike on a bell, brass pulleys, iron weights and a brass covered pendulum bob with a steel stick. The case is executed in fancy burl grained mahogany with broken arched crest and brass finial, turned corner columns, raised door panel and raised lower panel. In good overall condition with an enhanced alligatored original finish. 97.5 in. high x 20 in. wide x 11 in. deep.
