Silas Hoadley Transitional Shelf Clock, Plymouth, Connecticut, c. 1830, mahogany case topped by a stenciled splat with split columns flanking the full length door, all on French feet, painted wood dial, stenciled and reverse-painted lower table, very nice label “Clocks. Arranged and Manufactured by Silas Hoadley, Plymouth, (Conn.)”, thirty-hour, weight driven, wooden works clock with key wind and pendulum. Many Silas Hoadley which depict a home or building on the reverse painted glass tablet, are actual homes in the Town of Plymouth and surrounding Connecticut towns of the time period. Measures approx. 29″ tall x 17″ wide x 4 1/2″ deep.
American Silas Hoadley Pillar & Scroll Shelf Clock, Circa 1830, 10″ wood dial, painted Masonic design, 30-hour, wood movement, mahogany & mahogany veneer case, dial features unusual Masonic design, reverse painted tablet with eglomise border, label has “Hoadly” instead of the correct spelling “Hoadley”, excellent condition, old refinish, replaced finials, paint loss to reverse painting, very good working with normal wear.
