This brass ships bell clock would strike the traditional ship’s bell code, one bell for each half hour on a four hour watch. It measures 6 7/8"W 10 1/2"H X 3 3/8"D. There is no key present. The hands need to be adjusted because it rings on the 15 and 45 minute mark. It is running, but has not been tested for a long period of time.

Seth Thomas Ships Bell Clock – Merrimac. 5 in. silvered dial with black painted hour numbers, black spade hands, sub seconds dial and signed Seth Thomas; brass 1 day spring driven movement with lever escapement and ships bell strike on a steel bell, movement unsigned. In a tin tub case with brass finish and hinged door bezel. In running condition, some wear to the case finish and silvered finish worn from the dial. 7 in. dia. x 4 in. deep.

The 5.5 inch silvered dial has incised Roman hour numerals, signed “Seth Thomas, Made in U.S.A.” The case has an original nickel finish in good condition, mounted on an original cherry backboard. The case has an original silvered finish in good condition but needs cleaning. In running condition, ship’s bell strike functions. 2) The dial has a silvered finish with painted Arabic numerals, signed “Seth Thomas”, in very good condition. The case has an original brass finish, in very good condition, mounted on a mahogany ship’s wheel with exposed bell below. Clock winds but does not run, ship’s bell strike functions. Dimensions: (1) – 7.75 in. high x 7.75 in. wide x 4.75 in. deep; (2) – 13 in. high x 13 in. wide x 4.5 in. deep. Weight: 9.20 lbs.
