George Lumsden Scottish Rocking Ship Tall Case Clock. 12 in. metal dial signed “Geoe. Lumsden, Pittenweem” with painted Roman hour numerals, sub seconds dial, sub calendar dial, fancy pierced brass hands, painted corner spandrels with castle towers and Scottish ships; the top arch has a decorated front panel with cut castle scene and center ship rocking with the beat of the escapement. Brass weight driven movement with recoil escapement, iron bell at the top of the movement with half hour drop hammer strike, brass pulleys, iron weights and steel pendulum rod with brass covered bob. In a mahogany tall case with broken arched crest on the bonnet having brass ball & eagle finials, spiral turned columns, spiral turned columns on the body with carved and bowed front door panel. Case has an enhanced original finish, is in good general condition. 83 in. high x 19 in. wide x 10 in. deep.

Scottish Rosewood Drumhead Grandfather Clock. Original 14 in. gilt painted metal dial has black Roman hour numerals, sub seconds dial over a 31 date sub calendar dial, pierced hands and dial signed “Willm. Davie, Falkirk”. Quality brass 8 day weight driven movement has recoil escapement, hour rack strike mechanism with drop hammer strike on an iron bell at the top of the movement, brass pulleys, iron weights and steel pendulum rod with iron bob. In a rosewood case with round drumhead top having a pierced carved crest, shell and scroll design carved at the shoulder, turned half columns on the body with a bowed door, inset panel in the base and stands on French feet. Enhanced original finish, in good overall condition; 90 in. high x 20 in. wide x 10 in. deep.

18th Century Mahogany Rocking Ship Clock. 11 in. silvered dial signed “Bartholo. Barwell, New York” (Bartholomew Barwell, active in NY, 1749-1760, (from Bath, England), has black Roman hour numerals, 5 minute numbers outside, sub seconds dial, arched top with animated rocking ship moving with the beat of the pendulum and open aperture exposing the date on the calendar disc; brass 8 day weight driven movement with hour drop hammer strike on a bell at the top of the movement, 2 brass covered weights, brass pulleys and brass covered pendulum bob. Mahogany case has an elegant broken arched crest, large gilt turned wood spherical finials, columns on the bonnet door and long door on the front of the body with beveled glass panel. In very good condition, has an old alligatored finish. 89 in. high x 18 in. wide x 9 in. deep.

French Rocking Ship Automaton Mantle Clock. Cold painted bronze case depicts a fortress along the shoreline of the sea with 2 animated carved wooden ships rocking with the waves; the ships are animated through a brass spring driven mechanism contained in the inlaid oak base, movement is signed “T.C. Cailly” in an oval, “Eude” in an oval, “Brevete” and numbered “42”. The clock is contained within the rock face of the fort having a 3 in. engine turned and silvered dial signed “Vinsenti & Co.”, black incised Roman hour numerals, inset sub seconds dial, open moon hands and gilt brass bezel; round brass 8 day spring driven silk thread movement with half hour strike on a bell, movement numbered 44443 and has a small spring driven cylinder music box contained in the base; has keys for all 3 movements, mechanisms are in good running condition. 19.5 in. high x 16 in. wide x 9.5 in. deep. Weight: 20 lbs.

Dial has a 10 in. silvered chapter ring with incised black Roman hour numerals & 5 minute numbers, pierced black hands, gilt filigree spandrels and signed Jan Hermelink, Amsterdam; dial has a painted harbor scenic arch at the top with rocking ship flying Dutch flags and mermaids on either side, ship and mermaids rock with the beat of the pendulum. Quality brass, weight driven movement has recoil escapement, drop hammer bell hour strike, long wood pendulum with brass bob and brass covered weight. In good running condition. In a walnut case with arched top bonnet, spun brass spherical finials and lower drop section with oval cutout with brass urn overlay exposing the pendulum bob. 51 in. high x 15 in. wide x 7.5 in. deep.

An early 19th century Scottish Grandfather clock. 30 hr weight driven time and strike movement by “John Hay, Leith” with original painted dial with date aperture and floral detail. Oak and Mahogany case with broken arch hood and shaped upper door flanked by turned columns, shaped waist door, above a simple paneled base with bracket feet. In running order. Case refinished with minor wear, minor repair. 86 1/2″ high overall.
