Condition:
The clock is in a good condition according to age. The case shows smaller restorations and replacements. The veneer at the front door has a number of hairline cracks and the surface is a bit corrugated in some parts. The dimensions of the case are approximately 239 x 44 x 22 cm. The clock was not checked during a short-term test; long-term precision/functioning cannot be guaranteed.
Mitchell Atkins Column and Splat Shelf Clock, c. 1830’s. Mahogany case with acanthus carved columns and carved cornucopia splat, claw feet, label “Improved clocks, Manufactured by Atkins and Downs for Mitchell Atkins, Bristol, CT”. Brass works weight driven clock, hand painted dial, mirrored tablet, slight crack on top glass and slight veneer loss. Measures 35 1/2″ tall x 17″ wide x 4″ deep.
