Fruit and flowers on splat, claw feet, pinapple carved finials, hand painted dial. Beautiful label, “Modern Improved Clocks Made and Sold by Riley Whiting, Winchester, Conn.”, wooden works, weight driven, reverse painted glass tablet (has crack). Measures approx. 30″ tall x 17″ wide x 5 1/2″ deep.
Riley Whiting Wood Works Splat & Column Clock. Original 10 in. painted wood dial with black Roman hour numerals, floral painted center, gilt enamel corner spandrels and pierced hands; weight driven 8 day wooden works movement with count wheel strike mechanism with bell, iron side weights and brass covered pendulum bob. In a mahogany case with an ebony crest with gilt stenciled fruit basket, ebony & gilt turned half columns, original scenic painted reverse painted lower table in good overall condition and original finish, has replaced feet; signed ÂRiley Whiting, Winchester, Conn. on a paper label in the back of the case. 31.5 in. high 17.5 in. wide x 5.5 in. deep.

Riley & Whiting Carved Column Shelf Clock: time and bell striking wood works with original 10 1/2″ wood dial. Good interior label and original glass panes. The mahogany and veneer case stands on claw feet, has fancy carved columns and splat. The wood finish looks original and is in good shape. A crank style key is with it.
(The clock runs on the time side, the strike when wound, backwinds quickly.)
