Mahogany 5 Tube Grandfather Clock. Brass dial has a 12 in. silvered chapter ring with applied brass hour numbers, silvered sub seconds dial, lever for Strike/Silent, etched gilt and pierced brass filigree decorated center and corner spandrels with moon phase dial at the top painted with seascape & mountain scenes, brass weight driven movement has Graham deadbeat escapement, retaining power, 3 brass pulleys, brass covered weights and brass covered pendulum bob with steel stick. The carved mahogany case has an arched bonnet top with spherical finials, carved crown, shield & filigree at the top & turned side columns. The body of the case has a gadrooned edge, beehive shaped door with beveled glass, turned torch & flame carved side columns; stands on large winged claw feet, carved ribbon & double torch on the front panel of the base. Case is in good original finish, has an old repair to one finial at the stem; movement is unsigned, strike mechanism runs but needs adjustment as it does not stop after the chime is completed. 106 high x 30 in. wide x 20 in. deep.

Large brass dial has a silvered 12 in. chapter ring with applied brass hour numbers, sub seconds dial, moon phase, sub dials for Chime/Silent & Westminster/Whittington, has fancy pierced blued hands, pierced gilt & engraved filigree center and corner spandrels, dial signed by the movement maker “Elliot, London” and retailed by Duryea & Potter, New York”. The brass weight driven movement has a Graham deadbeat escapement, retaining power, brass pulleys, brass covered weights & pendulum bob with long steel stick; movement signed “J.J. Elliot, London, 4585” and “H&H”, has 9 tubes striking Westminster and Whittington, also striking the hour, tubes are signed Harris & Harrington “436”. In an original finish carved R.J. Horner oak case with arched bonnet top having large turned finials, double columns on the sides and figural winged griffin corbels on the corners; the body of the case has large figural rattail maidens with arms crossed at their breast and double spiral twisted sea-serpent tails, beveled glass on the sides and oval front door. The base has a large carved inset front panel with swirling filigree, winged birds and center medallion with reclining putti in the center; inset side panels have swirling filigree and opposite facing heads at the top, stands on large turned and carved bun feet. 104 in. high x 31 in. wide x 17.5 in. deep

The brass weight driven movement has a Graham deadbeat escapement, retaining power, brass pulleys, 3 brass covered weights & pendulum bob with long steel stick; has 9 tubes striking Westminster and Whittington, also striking the hour. In a carved R.J. Horner mahogany case with enhanced original finish. The arched bonnet top has a large pierced carved winged maiden crest and figural winged griffin corbels on the corners; the body of the case has large figural rattail maidens with arms crossed at their breast and double spiral twisted sea-serpent tails, beveled glass on the oval front door. The base has a large carved inset front panel with swirling filigree, winged birds and center medallion with reclining putti in the center; stands on 4 large turned and carved bun feet. Seat-board rebuilt, missing upper bonnet glass in the door which is broken and missing a piece; the right side maiden is missing a board between her and the door, the moon phase dial has the paint removed, the silvered dials are worn and the hour strike hammer is repaired. 118 in. high x 31 in. wide x 18 in. deep
