Canadian. 1900s. Oak, painted black to resemble marble. Rare. A few earlier examples of Pequegnat mantle clocks are found factory finished in green or black paint. This was an attempt to simulate then-popular French slate and marble mantle clocks. 8-day spring driven time and strike movement. Strikes on a helical gong and bell. Dial stamped. Dial marked, "The Arthur Pequegnat Clock Co., Berlin, Canada" lower edge. Original finish. Some losses to the surface, especially near the leftmost half column. This clock was running at the time of cataloguing, but its service history is unknown. From the Skip Kerr Collection. 11.25"H X 16"W X 7"D.
