Oak Elliot Grandfather Clock w/ Piano Strike. Large brass dial has a 12 in. silvered chapter ring with applied brass hour numbers, silvered sub seconds dial, moon phase with silvered arch, sub dials for Chime/Silent, Westminster/Eight Bells & switch for Whittington/Westminster chimes, fancy pierced gilt brass filigree decorated center and corner spandrels with pierced hands; brass weight driven movement has Graham deadbeat escapement, retaining power, quality brass weights, pulleys and pendulum bob with steel pendulum stick. The backboard of the clock is mounted with Elliot’s patented piano soundboard with 9 sets of string and hammers striking Whittington & Westminster; back plate of the movement is signed J.J. Elliot, London. In an oak case with carved lions head on the arched crest, filigree carving and side carvings with lions heads and hanging fruit; carved filigree and lions heads on the body and base with beveled door glass arched at the top. In very good condition and old overcoated finish. 99 in. high x 20.5 in. wide x 13.5 in. deep.
