This beautiful Viennese picture clock presumably dates back to the end of the 19th century and shows the typical design of picture clocks from the early Biedermeier period. The oil painting depicts a rural landscape with a massive clock tower in the center. The white clock face is painted and has Roman numbers. The small Viennese clockwork is located at the same height and has been mounted against the back side of the picture. Its typical cow tail pendulum reaches through the picture surface, in order to swing visibly in front of the clock face of the tower. The piece is delivered with an old key winding. The oil painting is presented in a leaf gilded frame with an ox eye border design.
The picture clock is in a good condition with small traces of age and use. The frame is also in a good condition with only small bumps and color abrasions at some points. The piece measures 43 x 37 x 8 cm (height x width x depth). It is fully functional; but long term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed. (cbo)
