A late 19th/early 20th century Gothic Revival Oak Hall clock by Tobey & Co., Chicago, IL. model 31023 . High quality 8-day Brass three weight movement by “Joseph Jennens, Skinner Street, Clerkenwell, London” with quarter hour striking on eight bells (Whittington) or four coiled gongs (Westminster) with fifth hour gong, finely engraved Brass dial with Silvered Chapter, seconds, Chime/Silent and Chime selector rings with upper painted Moon phase with Silvered date register and hemispheres. Exceptionally well carved case attributed to R. J. Horner & Co. with Gothic spires, upper Jester figure and hood side balcony’s supported by carved Gargoyles, carved open work waist door and lower panel with mask and Gothic tracery, carved linen-fold side panels. Original dark finish with slight wear, some tarnish on dial, running and striking and chiming correctly when cataloged. 107″ high overall.

High quality 4-train movement, probably by Elliott with thick Brass plates and 6 turned posts, features a choice of 6 tunes, with quarter hour striking on a nest of 15 bells with 18 hammers or 5 coiled gongs, arched Brass dial with painted moon phases and engraved hemispheres, a Silvered chapter ring with Arabic numerals, Silvered seconds dial and lower date aperture, with subsidiary dials for Silent/Strike Hours/Full Strike, Music/Silent, Chime/Silent and Easter Hymn/Auld Langsyne/Jolly Young Waterman/Blue Bells Of Scotland/Home Sweet Home/The Harp That Once Thro'Taras Halls tune selector, retailed by "Bailey, Banks & Biddle, Philadelphia" with cast Gilded spandrels. Carved Mahogany Gothic Revival Period case, attributed to R. J. Horner, New York, features a molded arch with carved foliate detail over a molded crown and sharp Gothic arches on the frieze over an arched molded dial door with beveled glass flanked by fluted columns with carved capitols, hinged fretwork side doors, over a shaped body with foliate panels and a glazed panel with bobbin turned grill and beveled glass lower door and raised panel sides on a paneled base with carved linen fold pilasters above a heavily molded plinth. Older refinishing with some wear, needs weight cables, running when cataloged. 93" high overall.
