Mahogany 9 Tube 3 Weight Grandfather Clock. 12″ silvered dial signed “Bailey, Banks & Biddle Co., Philadelphia” has applied gilt brass hour numbers, pierced filigree hands, fancy gilt pierced and engraved filigree center and corner spandrels, moon phase, silvered sub seconds and sub dials for “Silent-Strike” and “Whittington-Westminster”; brass 8 day weight driven movement signed “Bailey, Banks & Biddle Co., Philadelphia & London” has a Graham deadbeat escapement, retaining power, solid brass pulleys with brass covered weights, steel pendulum stick with brass covered bob and 9 tubes with progressive quarter hour strike on 8 and hour strike on 1, silvered tubes are signed “Tubular Bells Pat. Nov. 8, 1887, Walter H. Durfee, Prov. RI”. In a carved mahogany case has a filigree carved crest centered with a turned torch finial over a large seashell and serpentine filigree carved corbeled sides; base and body have a serpentine form with filigree carving, beveled glasses and a north wind face centered in the bottom panel. Original finish, repair to front corner of the cornice below the bonnet, repaired crest arms; movement missing 1 strike arm lever and 1 repaired. 107″ high x 27″ wide x 17″ deep.
