Japy Freres Mantle Clock W/ Sphinx. Metal dial with inset enamel hour numerals, typical round brass movement signed Japy Freres, strikes on a single bell. The case has figural winged sphinx holding up the movement, has a large urn finial on top. Case is in very good condition. Dial has a hairline along the XI – 11 numeral. 19 in. high x 14 in. wide x 8 in. deep.

Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia”, 8-day, circular brass movement, well executed French bronze mantle clock with hand painted cobalt blue neoclassical scrollwork tile inserts with illegible signature on rear, a very handsome & well made clock, suitable for a formal setting, small tile on clock top cracked, otherwise excellent condition with good patina. Height 14 1/2″.

Beautiful bronze case with 2 figural winged putti playfully flying over a wine cask with grapevine filigree, ribbons and 2 lizards on the ground; stands on an oak platform base. The front of the barrel is the clock dial with beaded brass bezel having a beveled crystal; applied porcelain Roman hour numerals and pierced gilt hands; typical brass 8 day spring driven movement signed ÂJapy Freres has an half hour strike on a bell. In good running condition, has a nice medium brown original patina on a detailed casting. 16 in. high x 15.5 in. wide x 5.5 in. deep.
