In good overall condition, has damage to one of the hour porcelain tags. 11.25 in. high x 8.25 in. dia.

Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia”, 8-day, circular brass movement, well executed French bronze mantle clock with hand painted cobalt blue neoclassical scrollwork tile inserts with illegible signature on rear, a very handsome & well made clock, suitable for a formal setting, small tile on clock top cracked, otherwise excellent condition with good patina. Height 14 1/2″.

The front of the barrel is the clock dial with beaded brass bezel having a beveled crystal; applied porcelain Roman hour numerals and pierced gilt hands; typical brass 8 day spring driven movement signed ÂJapy Freres has an half hour strike on a bell. In good running condition, has a nice medium brown original patina on a detailed casting. 16 in. high x 15.5 in. wide x 5.5 in. deep.

Japy Freres & Cie French Bronze & Marble Clock: made in 2 pieces, the marble base is separate. The time and half hour bell striking movement is signed Japy Freres & Cie, Jx Deniere-1856. The 4 1/4″ porcelain dial is also signed Deniere Ft De Bronzes- A Paris. The case has a woman, books and scientific instruments on it.
(The dial has chips at the 60 minute mark and the right hand key slot.)
