J.E. Caldwell Bronze Mounted Bracket Clock. Serpentine form case has an amber-gilt lacquered finish hand painted with roses and filigree throughout, front panel with a man and woman dancing in the forest as a seated musician plays; has a bronze mounted comical oriental figure of a man holding an umbrella on the top of the case with rococo filigree corner mounts and figural winged griffins on the sides. 6.5 in. brass dial signed “J.E. Caldwell & Co. Philadelphia” has applied porcelain hour numerals and 5 minute numbers, brass door bezel with convex crystal; round brass spring driven movement is signed with initials “JLF” in the sails of a ship, has an half hour strike on a coiled gong. Movement is running and strike mechanism is working though the strike hammer is missing; case has 2 cracks in the front panel, has some losses to the painted finish and is missing the moldings around the top edge. 23.5 in. high x 13.5 in. wide x 6.25 in. deep.
