Bristol, CT, ca 1850, an “Acorn” shelf clock, by Forestville Mfg. Co. of Bristol with eight-day time and strike, fusee movement, stamped with the maker’s name and with inside label, and having original reverse painted tablet; ht. 19 in.

J.C. Brown Model 1 Acorn Shelf Clock
Description
5.5 in. dia. painted metal dial with black Roman hour numerals, good period hands and pained rose highlights; brass 8 day spring driven movement signed Forestville Mfg. Co., Bristol, CT, USA has fancy pierced decorated lyre front plate, hour strike on a coiled gong, owered by block mounted double fusee springs in the bottom of the case, has a brass covered pendulum bob. In an excellent and rare J.C. Brown rosewood, pine and walnut laminated case with acorn shaped top, laminated side arms with acorn finials and an old replaced lower tablet with scene of Residence of J.C. Brown Esq., Britsol, CT; signed on a paper label in the back of the case for J.C. Brown, Bristol, Conn.. Old enhanced original finish, in very nice overall condition, original dial is repainted. 24.75 in. high x 15 in. wide x 4.25 in. deep. Weight: 9 lbs.
