Attr: Bontems 8 Bird Automaton Clock. 8 birds are perched in a tree, 2 of the birds and a spiral spinning glass rod at the bottom resembles running water are animated with a large spring driven movement in the base, unsigned. In good condition and mechanism is running; has leaves and flowers in the tree, one bird sits in a nest with an insect on the tree trunk, foliage, moss and mushrooms grow on the ground around the tree. To the left side is a 3 in. porcelain dial with black Roman hour numerals, black open moon hands and a gilt brass beaded bezel; typical French, round brass movement signed Japy Fils and has an half hour strike on a silvered bell. Missing glass dome, dial has cracks, gilt base is refinished and appears to have the name Bontems written in pencil on the inside of the base in script. 26 in. high x 20 in. wide x 10 in. deep.

A late 19th century German Cuckoo clock with singing bird automaton at crest. 30 hr time and strike movement with cutout brass plates and cast iron "1260, EA" weights. Carved Walnut case with Oak leaf motif. Old finish with minor wear, restored songbird, movement quite dirty and running momentarily when cataloged. 24" high, plus weight drop. ESTIMATE $1,500-2,500

To the left side is a 3 in. porcelain dial with black Roman hour numerals, black open moon hands and a gilt brass beaded bezel; typical French, round brass 8 day movement signed Japy Freres, has an half hour strike on a silvered bell.
