Rare Howard & Davis No. 4 Banjo Clock. Original 8 in. painted metal dial signed ÂHoward & Davis, Boston has black Roman hour numerals and blued open moon hands; brass weight driven 8 day time only movement signed ÂA. Howard, Boston and ÂD.P. Davis has a solid brass pulley, iron No. 4 weight, ebonized wood pendulum stick and brass covered bob. In a rosewood grain painted banjo style case with reverse gilt and black painted throat and tablet glasses. Nice overall condition, original finish, no inpainting to the glasses, weight baffle replaced, brass cover is loose from the bob. Albert Howard, a cousin of Edward Howard, went into partnership in Dec. 1858 as ÂE. Howard & CompanyÂ; in March of 1861 they formed a joint stock company called the ÂHoward Clock & Watch Company where Albert Howard was chosen as President and Edward as Superintendent & Treasurer. The factory was closed in May of 1863 and in October of the same year, Edward was able to reform the company with himself as President. 32 in. high x 13.5 in. wide x 4 in. deep. Weight: 17.25 lbs.

Boston, has large black Roman hour numerals and 5 minute numbers, painted black pierced trefoil hands; brass 8 day weight driven time only movement number 11 1/2, signed ÂE. Howard & Co. BostonÂ, has a painted black no 11 1/2 side weight with 3 pulleys, wood pendulum, stick with brass covered bob. In good overall condition, no break, chips or repairs to the dial, pendulum stick is broken at the top. Overall dimensions are 26 in. high x 26 in. wide x 5 in. deep.

Howard & Co., BostonÂ, has black Roman hour numerals and minute markers, red 5 minute numbers and reverse painted glass panel inset in the bottom exposing the swinging pendulum. Brass weight driven 8 day time only movement number Â24 3/4″ signed ÂE. Howard & Co., BostonÂ, has a long ebonized wood pendulum stick with brass covered bob, ebonized wood weight baffle, brass pulley and iron weight. Has a pine case box painted white on the exterior, has a minor split in the bottom right from a fallen weight. In very good condition. 44 in. high x 24 in. wide x 4.5 in. deep.

Quality brass No. 12.5 movement, signed E. Howard & Co, Boston; Recoil escapement, Geneva stop, iron weight with wood pulleys and pendulum (replaced).
