An early 20th century mantel clock with musical automaton by Harold Carter-Bowles, Cheltenham, England 1889-1961. 8-day time and strike movement with "Gautier" balance wheel escapement and Silvered dial with Roman numerals by Silvani, Paris. Painted wooden case with Brass head and Owl finial, lower Windmill automaton with river boats moving along a canal and cylinder music box inside the case winds independently to power the music box and automaton which plays at 6:00, 9:00 and 12:00, repeats on demand. Paper label "Carter Bowles…Cheltenham" under base. Some paint and dial wear, running when cataloged, automaton and music box working. 16 1/4" high.
