Description

Gilbert Amphion Walnut Mantle Clock: 8 day time with gong strike, black 6″ dial with gold Roman numerals, plus alarm. In a walnut case with cut glass mirror panels. The pendulum’s back is marked F.K. Kroeber, the March patent failed to add the date. The case is in excellent condition with no problems. A key is with this clock.

(The clock is running, the strike spring is wound tight and not working.)

(Not running. Mirror spotting on both sides and lower; dial worn and discolored; lower mirror not original; pendulum not an exact match to original, but very close; some scuffs and scratches to the case.)

WM. L. GILBERT CLOCK CO. ”AMPHION”, C. 1885: One of Gilbert’s finest mantle clocks. Cut glass mirror paneled sides and base with a nice ormolu mounted cut glass mirrored pendulum. This model has the balls on top, most do not. All original walnut case w/etched bird design on door. Full label on back. 8 day movement in working order strikes a cathedral gong. We do not get 115 year old clocks any nicer than this! 24 3/4”h. x 16” x 5 1/4”.
