Early German Animated Mantel Clock: When activated, on the 1/4 hour, the figure by the dial strikes at the bells above the dial. The actual strike is on 2 gongs, each with a different sound. The porcelain dial has an inner ring of numbers 1 – 31, indicating the days of the month. The veneered wood case has added decoration including the mask of a lady. The feet and top finial are wood. Circa very late 18th century to very early 19th century.
The clock runs and strikes when properly balanced.
