18th Century Mahogany Rocking Ship Clock. 11 in. silvered dial signed ÂBartholo. Barwell, New York (Bartholomew Barwell, active in NY, 1749-1760, (from Bath, England), has black Roman hour numerals, 5 minute numbers outside, sub seconds dial, arched top with animated rocking ship moving with the beat of the pendulum and open aperture exposing the date on the calendar disc; brass 8 day weight driven movement with hour drop hammer strike on a bell at the top of the movement, 2 brass covered weights, brass pulleys and brass covered pendulum bob. Mahogany case has an elegant broken arched crest, large gilt turned wood spherical finials, columns on the bonnet door and long door on the front of the body with beveled glass panel. In very good condition, has an old alligatored finish. 89 in. high x 18 in. wide x 9 in. deep.
George Lumsden Scottish Rocking Ship Tall Case Clock. 12 in. metal dial signed ÂGeoe. Lumsden, Pittenweem with painted Roman hour numerals, sub seconds dial, sub calendar dial, fancy pierced brass hands, painted corner spandrels with castle towers and Scottish ships; the top arch has a decorated front panel with cut castle scene and center ship rocking with the beat of the escapement. Brass weight driven movement with recoil escapement, iron bell at the top of the movement with half hour drop hammer strike, brass pulleys, iron weights and steel pendulum rod with brass covered bob. In a mahogany tall case with broken arched crest on the bonnet having brass ball & eagle finials, spiral turned columns, spiral turned columns on the body with carved and bowed front door panel. Case has an enhanced original finish, is in good general condition. 83 in. high x 19 in. wide x 10 in. deep.

Animated Rocking Ship Dutch Hood Clock. Dial has a 10 in. silvered chapter ring with incised black Roman hour numerals & 5 minute numbers, pierced black hands, gilt filigree spandrels and signed Jan Hermelink, Amsterdam; dial has a painted harbor scenic arch at the top with rocking ship flying Dutch flags and mermaids on either side, ship and mermaids rock with the beat of the pendulum. Quality brass, weight driven movement has recoil escapement, drop hammer bell hour strike, long wood pendulum with brass bob and brass covered weight. In good running condition. In a walnut case with arched top bonnet, spun brass spherical finials and lower drop section with oval cutout with brass urn overlay exposing the pendulum bob. 51 in. high x 15 in. wide x 7.5 in. deep.

Rare French Automaton Car Clock by Guilmet. C. 1907. Brass body; folded silk window coverings; automated wheels on steel spoked rims, driven by a chain. On the driver’s side door, there is a clock with a porcelain dial and an Aneroid barometer below the clock. A Fahrenheit thermometer is on the passenger door. Ht. 8 1/2″ W 16″ D 6″ .

Old patina; hairline to barometer dial. Missing chain drive.
