French Empire Bronze Clock Â Playing Checkers, c.1820. The beautiful gilt bronze case depicts a seated man and woman facing each other in classic empire style chairs, they sit on either side of a table which is draped with a cloth wrapping around the clock, has a checkerboard with mirror at the back. The scene is very lively and very expressive, the male figure is reaching to make a move and his face holds a bold and confident expressing, the woman is realizing the move and bears a defensive expression. The rectangular stepped base of the case has beautiful filigree and dog mounts over a scene of a man and woman in a field, the man is teaching the woman to play his flute. 4.5 in. porcelain dial has black Roman hour numerals and fancy gilt pierced hands; typical round brass spring driven movement has an half hour count wheel strike mechanism with a steel bell. 18 in. high x 17 in. wide x 6 in. deep.

French Empire Bronze Portico Clock. 3.5 in. gilt brass dial with black painted Roman hour numerals, machined center, acanthus leaf bezel and open moon hands; has a typical round brass 8 day spring driven movement with an half hour count wheel strike mechanism on a steel bell, gridiron pendulum with fancy leaf decorated bob. Dore bronze 4 column case with overhanging cornice top, relief decorated filigree and swans on the cornice and relief decorated garland, filigree and swans on the front of the base. In very good condition with an excellent finish and running. 17 in. high x 8.5 in. wide x 4.75 in. deep.

French Empire Bronze Dore Clock w/Knight: Circa 1830 with a French ormolu bronze figure of a knight in armor with an anchor and cannon. Inscribed “Vierdaagsche Laeslag”. It is believed to be the figure of Henry Husdon, the Dutch warrior and explorer.

(The strike arm is broken.)

French Empire Bronze & Marble Clock Garniture Set: White marble and bronze with a bell striking movement marked “Made in France”, “382” and “A-1” in an oval. The framed porcelain dial is good looking. The pendulum has an Art Nouveau style lady’s face – very nice. The applied decoration of flowers and a lions mask are on the front.

The movement is running and striking at this time.

(The gilt finish is visibly worn on all 3 pieces.)
