An antique 19th Century French Empire style dore bronze clock, attributed to Japy Freres & Cie. (Japy Brothers & Co.), recipients of the Medaille D' Honneur (Grand Medal of Honor) at the 1855 Universal Paris Exposition. A large and solidly made figural work depicting a patinated bronze winged putto cherub angel seated on an ornate plinth column, holding a cylindrical clock by bronze ribbon form. White enamel clock face with Arabic numerals and a geometric floral garland pattern to center. Gilded embellishments throughout this striking palace quality specimen. Surmounting a circular marble base with ornate dore bronze mountings and presented on four circular feet. No apparent signature, being sold in the style of the Japy Brothers.
