Francis Morse Calendar Mantle Clock. 6 in. paper dial has black Roman hour numerals with 31 date red Arabic numbers outside, black pierced spade hands and brass date indicator; has an aperture cutout at the 6 which exposes the month, incised on a brass toothed disc. Pierced brass spring driven movement has a half hour count wheel strike mechanism with coiled gong, brass pendulum bob with fancy decorated glass center; movement signed E.N. Welch, Mfg. Co. Forrestville, Conn, USA. In a carved E.N. Welch walnut case with pierced carved crest and fluted pilaster side pieces, reverse gold painted door glass has an armored soldier standing between two knights on horseback. In good running condition, original finish; original paper label on the back is in excellent condition and reads “Morse’s Perpetual Calendar, Manufactured expressly for the owner Francis E. Morse, by the E.N. Welch Manufacturing Co.”. 22.5 in. high x 16 in. wide x 5 in. deep.
