Four antique French mantel clocks. Consisting of: Three French mantel clock movements + one pocket watch movement. One timepiece signed in platine, circa 1800 -1780. Etienne Baillon Paris. One timepiece first half 19th century, string suspension, dial signed Robin a Paris. One large timepiece, second half 19th century, spring suspension. And a pocket watch movement, Imbert Laine Paris, circa 1800. Functions not tested. Dimensions: 4.5 – 14 cm. In fair/good condition.

Two black slate mantel clocks. The first of ‘temple’ form with 4″ Roman dial and two-train spring-driven Ansonia movement, 15″ wide x 11.25″ high, the second with 3.5″ Roman dial, single-train timepiece movement and verde antico pilasters, 8.5″, (21.5cm) high, (2).

Three early 20th century mahogany mantel clocks comprising two of Napoleon’s hat shaped form, the first three-train with silvered Arabic dial movement chiming on gong rods, 13.25″ wide x 8″ high (33.5cm x 205.cm); the second a case only, with chequer inlaid front, 21.25″ wide x 10.5″ high (54cm x 26.5cm) and a late 19th century mahogany drumhead timepiece, with white dial, the case with scroll supports on moulded plinth, 16.25″ wide x 9.5″ high (41cm x 24cm)

Two French marble mantel clocks, circa 1900, the first in grey (bleu turquin) marble, the second variegated, each having a cream Arabic chapter ring and single-train timepiece movement in rectangular case, the first inscribed to reverse ‘LNER 7896’, each 9″ (23cm) high respectively

Condition

Three French black slate mantel clocks each of drumhead form on scroll supports and plinth base, the largest with associated cream Arabic chapter ring and partially visible Brocot escapement, 21″ wide x 13.25″ high (54.5cm x 33.5cm), the second with timepiece movement, the third (af) two-train.

Condition

1 – Dial and movement are a decent fit but are loose in surround. General staining to chapter ring, anonymous, outside countwheel striking, two-train movement, requires a clean and overhaul. Case good but no rear door. 2 – Dial and movement also associated, ill fitting. Chapter ring badly stained. American. German type skelitonised spring-driven movement. Case needs a clean but otherwise sound, though no rear door. 3 – Case badly faded, no front door, two cracks to rear door.
