Description: Antique French Guyerdet Aine, Paris Gilt Statue Clock: T&S with a silvered metal dial and a signed movement. The case has a lady with an ornate headdress seated on a chair with swan corners and tasseled pillows. The base has a floral garland and floral corners. The skirt of the clock has shells and scrolls. Not tested.

Dimensions: 16″ Tall

Condition Report: Not tested. There is no pendulum with the clock. Sells as is, where is.

Condition:

The splendid mantel clock is in a very good condition, consistent with age. The dial has been renewed. The bronze cast displays several production-related cracks. Some applications are slightly loose. During in house testing, the timepiece was fully functional; no guarantee on long term precision and regularity. The dimensions of the case measure c. 46 x 27 x 13.3 cm.

Alexandre Le Faucheur (died after 1772)

The clockmaker was born in Evreux, in the Haute-Normandie region, and received his matre in October 1729. Such was his talent that in March 1745 he was appointed Valet de Chambre-Horloger Ordinaire du Roi to Louis XV. In addition to this honorable task of suppling the royal court with clocks, he was also allowed to run his own shop. In 1749 his career enjoyed further promotion, when replaced Jean V Martinot as Gouverneur du Grand Horologe du Roi du Palais. Due to his great watchmaking skills, Le Faucheur also took on numerous commissions from the aristocracy besides producing clocks for the royalty. His clocks are now represented in many public collections, including Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire, Patrimonio Nacional, Spain, or the Muse National des Techniques, Paris.

Raingo Paris Porcelain & Bronze Mantle Clock. Figural dore bronze case having a serpentine front with reclining putti figures on the top, one blowing a horn, the center has a large net overflowing with fish, piled on top with a bugle, game bird, basket and oak branches, has a leaf and ribbon crest over the dial; the case front is inset with 4 serpentine porcelain plaques 2 with young figural putti and the lower plaques with filigree. 3.5 in. porcelain dial signed ÂRaingo Freres, a ParisÂ, has blue Roman hour numerals and black 5 minute numbers, fancy pierced gilt hands and convex beveled door glass; typical round French brass 8 day spring driven silk thread movement signed ÂRaingo Freres, ParisÂ has an half hour count wheel strike on a single bell. In good overall condition, dial has hairlines, one lower porcelain insert is repaired. 12.5 in. high x 17 in. wide x 5 in. deep.
