English Double Fusee Mahogany Bracket Clock. 7″ convex painted iron dial signed “Samuel Martin, Cheltenham” has black Roman hour numerals, black painted hands and hinged round brass door bezel with convex crystal; brass 8 day double fusee spring driven movement has an engraved rear plate, heavy brass covered engraved pendulum bob with lockdown and hour bell strike. The mahogany gothic revival case having a beehive form with turned finials, triple cluster columns on the front, brass side handles and brass ball feet. Overcoated original finish, replaced upper finial, missing suspension spring, replaced hour hand. Samuel Martin opened on “The Strand” in Cheltenham in 1808, which later became Martin & Co. to which a Royal Warrant was presented by Queen Victoria in 1838.
