Elmer Stennes, Weymouth, Mass., Willard style banded front patent timepiece or banjo clock with bracket, mahogany case, painted metal dial, barbed hands, 8 day, weight driven brass movement. Original reverse painted tablets and cast brass eagle finial. Case is stamped "31'" and "72". This clock was made while Stennis was in prison and is stamped: (MCIP for Massachusetts Correctional Institute Plymouth).

Elmer O. Stennes Electric Banjo Clock. 7 in. painted metal dial, has black Roman hour numerals, and fancy black hands, signed Elmer O. Stennes, Weymouth, Mass; the electric Telechron time only movement appears to be original and has a painted red weight baffle. Mahogany presentation banjo case has brass bezel with convex glass, pierced brass side arms, reverse painted throat glass and reverse painted door glass. Clock is in good running condition, original finish and original glasses are in very good condition with no inpainting. 42 in. high x 10 in. wide x 4.5 in. deep

Aaron Willard Jr. Thermometer-front Patent Timepiece or Banjo Clock, c. 1815, mahogany case with hinged brass bezel, convex glass, unsigned, painted, roman numeral dial, barbed wire hands, gilt rope frames enclosing the reverse-painted tablets, upper tablet with thermometer and signed "A. Wilard Jr.," bottom glass depicting a country mansion, carved lower gilt bracket, uniformed cut head with brass movement, T-bridge suspension, recoil escapement, alternate train mounted with through bolts, ht. 39 in.
Note: The throat tablet is signed with one "l" in Willard. In his book Willard's Patent Time Pieces, A History of the Weight-Driven Banjo Clock 1800-1900, Paul J. Foley includes chapter 17 that discusses thermometer-front timepieces.

Potter, February 1, 1950, From his New England Associates, brass lockdown hardware, lead weight and painted black weight baffle. Mahogany banjo case has brass bezel with convex glass, pierced brass side arms, reverse painted throat glass and reverse painted door glass. Clock is in good running condition, original finish and original glasses are in very good condition with no inpainting. 34 in. high
