American. c. 1819. Hardwood veneer with inlaid bone door escutcheon. Eli Terry was the inventor of the pillar and scroll clock, which became one of the most dominant styles of shelf clocks of the 19th century. Labelled inside lower case, "Made and Sold by Eli Terry and Sons, Plymouth, Connecticut". Label marked by printer, "Silas Folsom, Printer, Hartford, Conn" lower right edge. Professionally replicated upper scroll and pillar assembly. Paint losses from the dial surrounding each of the winding arbors. Includes weights, pendulum and crank style winding key. 31"H x 17.5"W x 4.75"D.
