Eli Terry & Son column and splat shelf clock, c. 1820s. Half columns and splat with stencil, hand painted raised gilt dial, reverse painted and stenciled lower tablet, nice label with American eagle “Patent Clocks, Invented by Eli Terry. Made and Sold at Plymouth, Connecticut, by Eli Terry & Son. Wooden works, weight driven shelf clock. Measures approx. 25 1/2″ tall x 17 1/2″ wide x 4 1/2” deep. Many Eli Terry Clocks which depict a home or building on the reverse painted glass tablet, are actual homes in the Town of Plymouth and surrounding Connecticut towns of the time period.
