Eli Terry Pillar and Scroll Shelf Clock, Plymouth, Connecticut, c. 1825. Scroll top case, turned columns, hand painted dial with raised gilt and fruit basket in center, reverse plainted tablet, exceptional label “Patent Clocks, Invented by Eli Terry, Made and Sold in Plymouth, Connecticut”. 30 hour wooden works, weight driven, key and pendulum, measures approx. 29″ tall x 17″ wide x 4 1/2″ deep. Many Eli Terry Clocks which depict a home or building on the reverse painted glass tablet, are actual homes in the Town of Plymouth and surrounding Connecticut towns of the time period.
