Eli Terry Pillar and Scroll Shelf Clock, Plymouth, Connecticut, c. 1825. Scroll top case with three wooden finials, turned columns, hand painted dial with flowers in corners, reverse plainted tablet, label “Patent Clocks, Invented by Eli Terry, Made and Sold in Plymouth, Connecticut”. 30 hour wooden works, weight driven, key and pendulum, measures approx. 29″ tall x 17″ wide x 4 1/2″ deep. Many Eli Terry Clocks which depict a home or building on the reverse painted glass tablet, are actual homes in the Town of Plymouth and surrounding Connecticut towns of the time period.

Samuel Terry Pillar & Scroll Clock. Painted wood dial has a 10 in. chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals, colorful decorated corners & blued pierced hands; weight driven wooden works movement with brass covered pendulum bob, count wheel strike mechanism, bell & iron weights. In a mahogany pillar & scroll case, has broken arch crest, brass finials, turned side columns and valanced feet; original reverse painted lower tablet with some minor paint loss and inpainting, very nice refinish. 31 in. high x 17.5 in. wide x 4.5 in. deep.

Original 11 in. painted wood dial with black hour numbers, floral panted corner spandrels and pierced hands; 30 hour wooden works movement with countwheel hour strike on a coiled gong, round iron side weights, brass covered pendulum bob. In a mahogany pillar & scroll case with brass finials, elegant turned side columns, cutout feet and apron with an original reverse painted tablet; signed on a paper label “Samuel Terry”. In nice condition, has door key and winding key, running, striking, has excellent repair to the crest and is in excellent refinished condition. 31 in. high x 16.5 in. wide x 4.5 in. deep. Weight: 19 lbs.
