Weight driven, wooden works, with beautiful hand painted dial, reverse painted glass tablet, wooden urn finials, very nice label, “Patent Clocks, Invented by Eli Terry, Made and Sold at Plymouth Connecticut, E. Terry & Sons.”, measures approx. 31 1/2″ tall x 16 1/2″ wide x 4 1/2″ deep. Many Eli Terry Clocks which depict a home or building on the reverse painted glass tablet, are actual homes in the Town of Plymouth and surrounding Connecticut towns of the time period.
Eli Terry & Sons Pillar and Scroll Clock. Painted wood dial has a 10 in. chapter ring with black hour numbers, gilt enamel and floral painted borders and good pierced hands; typical 30 hour wooden works movement with count wheel bell strike mechanism, iron side weights, wood pulleys and brass covered pendulum bob, label in the back of the case reads ÂE. Terry & Sons, Plymouth, ConnÂ. In a mahogany pillar & scroll case, has broken arch crest, turned finials, turned side columns and valanced feet; scenic reverse painted lower tablet has paint flaking, case has an overcoated finish with a single break and repair to the crest. 29.5 in. high x 17 in. wide x 4.5 in. deep.
