A late 19th century E. N. Welch "Patti V.P." Victorian shelf clock. 8-day time and strike movement with papered metal dial and Roman numerals, fancy pendulum with glass insert. Rosewood case with arched top and turned finials above a single long door flanked by turned columns on a molded base. Paper label on back 90%. Older refinishing with some wear and minor losses to dial, running when cataloged. 18 1/2" high. ESTIMATE $600-800

Welch Patti V.P. No. 1 Shelf Clock W/ Alarm. Original 5 in. dial with black Roman hour numerals with center alarm indicator disk and black pierced trefoil hands. Has an early brass time and strike Patti movement, 8 day, spring driven with pierced crossed ÂXÂ in the front and back plates, count wheel strike mechanism, strikes on a steel bell and alarm strikes on the same bell with its spring contained within; has a fancy Patti pendulum with glass insert. Quality rosewood case with turned finials, rosettes and corner columns, original black E.N Welch Patti V.P. label on the back, in good running condition. Case has an enhanced original finish, side finials are missing bottom section of turnings, extra holes behind original dial, missing inner bezel dial, one door hinge is moved down and old slot is filled, minute hand is repaired. 18.5 in. high x 12 in. wide x 6.25 in. deep.
