E. Howard No. 68 Floor Standing Astronomical Regulator Clock. Silvered 14″ bronze astronomical dial has black incised 5 minute numbers on the chapter ring, 4.5 in. sub seconds dial over a 4.5 in. sub hour dial with pierced trefoil hand, dial signed “E. Howard & Co. Boston Mass.”, walnut bezel; quality brass 8 day 2 weight time only astronomical movement is signed “E. Howard & Co. Boston”, has 4 leg silvered gravity escapement with jeweled pallets on the gravity arms, maintaining power, quality brass side weights with brass pulleys and 4 jar mercurial pendulum numbered 297 – 3380. The large carved walnut case has an arched crest with scrolled seashell over a carved maidens head and raised burled panels, door has carved corbels on either side with raised panels and turned rosettes on the front, silvered beat indicator on a pierced carved riser inside of the case and nice inset burled panels in the base. Clock is in excellent original finish with good original glass on the door & sides, Exceptional color and patina, good original blued hands, dial screws and washers. 105 in. high x 33 in. wide x 17 in. deep.
