E. Howard No. 5 Banjo Clock. 7 in. painted metal dial, has black Roman hour numerals, signed E. Howard & Co. Boston, open moon hands; brass weight driven movement signed E. Howard & Co. Boston, has recoil escapement, No. 5 weight, brass covered pendulum bob with wood stick and lower weight baffle. In a rosewood banjo style case with red, black & gilt reverse painted throat and door glasses. Case has an old enhanced finish, replaced pendulum stick, old replaced iron dial and has some minor inpainting to the glasses which are replaced. 29 in. high x 12 in. wide x 4 in. deep.

Howard & Co, Boston” model 4 Banjo wall clock. 8-day weight driven time only movement with painted metal dial. “Rosewood” grained case with original reverse painted throat and lower door glasses. Partial label in bottom of case. Double signed “E. Howard & Co, Boston” on both movement and dial. Original finish with some wear, lacks 2/3 of bottom board in case. 32″ high.

Case has an overcoated finish, repairs to bottom board and joints, replaced hinged screws in the lower door, repaired pendulum stick, replaced dial and repainted glasses; the ratchet spring for the drive train is loose, not allowing the clock to hold power after winding. 29 in. high x 12 in. wide x 4 in. deep.

In a mahogany banjo case with brass door bezel w. convex glass, pierced brass side arms, gilt turned acorn finial, gilt rope twist frame around the throat and tablet and gilt carved & fluted lower bracket with acorn finial and spherical presentation mounts; original reverse painted throat glass and ÂBoston State HouseÂ lower tablet in excellent condition and original finish, original instruction label from E.
