E. Howard Single Dial Tower Clock. Has heavy brass plates, pendulum regulated movement with large gears, maintaining power, long wood pendulum stick with original bob and iron weight. Horizontal plate at the top of the movement is numbered 2524. Movement is 18 in. high x 8 in. wide x 8.25 in. deep. Pendulum us 44 in. long.

E. Howard Round Top Tower Clock. Large arched top pierced decorated cast iron plates signed “E. Howard & Co., Boston, Mass.”, has Graham deadbeat escapement, maintaining power, rack and snail hour strike mechanism, iron ball pendulum bob on a 34 in. wood stick. Partial 4 dial mount on top with separate 4 dial gear cluster (brackets don’t fit), has a 3 tooth repair to the rear power gear for the strike mechanism. As found in the estate, nice respiration project, has crank, clock is numbered “5” at the top of the beat adjustment plate. Measures: 67 in. high x 47.5 in. wide x 30.5 in. deep.

Howard & Co., Boston, Mass.”, has Graham deadbeat escapement, maintaining power, rack and snail hour strike mechanism, inverted teardrop pendulum on a 96 in. wood pendulum rod, 4 dial mount on the top with 4 long dial poles and 4 sets of hands with counter balances, minute hand measures 29 in. long to the center. Has 2 large iron weights and crank; clock is numbered “21” at the top of the beat adjustment plate. Measures: 62 in. high x 47 in. wide x 20 in. deep.

Serial no. 767. A very rare no. 2 Dennison double three-legged gravity escapement-type clock with time and strike. Features a four-way dial differential on top. Provenance is known from new beginning with Muncie, Indiana high school, where it remained in clock tower. Following school’s demolition, it was acquired by Brown Collection and finally entered the Milhous Collection. Accompanied by large photograph of original clock tower as well as original Howard factory records of this piece, courtesy of tower clock expert Rory DeMesy.
