E. Howard & Co. One Year Duration Astronomical Clock
20th century
This is the only year duration that E. Howard & Co. ever produced. The movement was ordered by Dr. William Rollins, a graduate of Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1873. The movement was ordered by him on April 27, 1898 and was never picked up. At some point, it was removed from the factory, and the case and weight were made at a later date. The order reads "One old style regulator movement, arranged to run a year, 14-inch silver astro dial, brass weight etc. To be mounted on a mahogany board that the doctor will furnish made according to our dimensions." The movement is unsigned and carries the letters "FP" in the upper right corner of the front plate, the back of case marked "Made by Ed Martt, July 22nd, 1987."
