Howard & Co., Boston, has maintaining power, Graham deadbeat escapement, half hour strike on a coiled gong, 2 quality brass pulleys and brass covered weights, long gilt wood pendulum rod and a brass covered bob. Beautiful mahogany case in original finish with pierced carved crest, brass finials and turned columns on the bonnet, turned quarter columns on the case body with beveled door glass, brass plaque inside Made by the E. E. Howard & Co. No. 81 Oak Grandfather Clock. Silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals inside Arabic 5 minute markers, silvered sub seconds dial, pierced spandrels on a brass plate, moon phase dial and E. Howard & Co. Boston Tag on the front. Quality brass weight driven time and half hour strike movement, Graham’s Dead-Beat escapement with jeweled pallets, strikes on a single gong, 2 quality brass weights and pulleys, lock down hardware, brass pendulum bob with gold painted round wood stick; original movement unsigned. Wonderful oak case with high grain and original finish, pierce carved crest, brass eagle and ball finials and turned columns on the bonnet; beveled door glass and quarter columns on the body. Silvered presentation plaque for 50th business anniversary mounted inside and matching plaque on the right side of the case noting the 49 people who presented the clock. Case is numbered – 3*1892. In good working condition, case and movement are clean, no losses, breaks or repairs. 98H x 22w x 14in.

Howard Clock Company, Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1880, the fret top case with three brass finials, free-standing columns flanking the composite brass dial with name plate inscribed E. Howard & Co., Boston, Roman numeral chapter ring, cast brass spandrels, damascened center and moon’s age in the arch, glazed waist door and ogee feet, eight-day time and hour strike with two brass cased weights and pendulum, ht. 98 1/2 in. with center finial.
