An early 19th century Dutch Staartklok wall clock with "Marching Soldier" automaton. 30-hour weight driven time, strike and alarm movement, painted metal dial with upper automaton figure and Roman numerals. Oak case with arched hood and hinged dial door, shaped brackets and shaped slide off pendulum cover with urn lenticle. Older finish with some wear, replaced hood plinth blocks, lacks finials and alarm weights, running when cataloged. 41 1/2" high plus weight drop. ESTIMATE $400-600

Older finish with some wear, replaced plinth blocks and finials (one Angel missing a wing), one cracked side glass on hood, running when cataloged. 50" high plus weight drop. Oak case with arched hood and three carved large giltwood figures above an arched door, turned ebonized quarter columns; a 30 hour weight driven time/strike/alarm movement with original painted tin dial and cast spandrels, the dial is painted with a military motif including an automaton of equestrian soldiers; shaped lower case with small pendulum window. Dutch "Staartklok" oak clock, 19th century, having three floral painted shaped tin finials on a bonnet housing a painted dial displaying a moon dial, calendar, Roman numerals topped with alpha numerals in five minute increments, and having gilt mounts of goddesses in each corner, flanked by ebonized columns, all resting over a shaped lower case having a sliding tail cover with a pierced panel in the form of a gilded urn encasing the pendulum, 50.5"h x 16"w x 8.25"d.
